Autism (also called Autism Spectrum Condition, or ASC) is a lifelong developmental disability that affects the way a person communicates and relates to people around them. Autism is characterised by impaired social interaction, problems with verbal and nonverbal communication, and unusual, repetitive, or severely limited activities and interests.
Asperger syndrome is an autism spectrum condition (ASC), and people with AS therefore show significant difficulties in social interaction and restricted, stereotyped patterns of behaviour and interests. Aspergers's syndrome differs from Autism in that there is less language delay and individuals with this condition usually have an average or above average IQ.

Parents should receive registration forms for the Playschemes in early December for the Easter Playscheme and in early May for the Summer Playscheme. If you have not received a registration form by the end of these months, please contact the office to ensure you don't miss out.
As the Playschemes run for Easter and Summer our recruitment of volunteers occurs before these begin. We begin recruitment for the Easter Playscheme in November and for the Summer Playscheme in April/May. This is to ensure we have sufficient time to carry out disclosures and reference checks prior to the Playschemes beginning.
