This is the reality for many parents of children with the more acute form of autism and there is no cure. Even children with less acute forms of autism can need a lot of extra help just to join in eveyday activities like a trip to the park or a visit to a friend's house.
As 1% of the population is somewhere on the autism spectrum the services Lothian Autistic Society provide are absolutely essential in helping support those with autism and their families.
